We got thru the crazy storms so it is time for special shout-outs to Ms. Rheanna and Ms. Ledesma!
Ms. Rheanna, Literacy Educational Assistant - Her primary job is to work with our students on growing and teaching their reading goals! However, she does so much more than just that! She helps any all students in their daily journey! She helps in multiple classes, lunchroom and after school! She is always willing to help wherever needed! Students and staff alike appreciate her being on our team!
Ms. Ledesma, 4k Dual Language Assistant - She is such a caring and trusted person for our youngest learners! She always brings a smile and a positive attitude every day! She works in tandem with her team to make sure every student in her class feels safe, loved and eager to learn! She has been such a rock for our very important 4k DL program!
Thank you both for being such tremendous team players and serving your purpose with such passion!

Happy Friday! Yes, our kiddos are out on Spring Break...but we still have staff to celebrate! Huge shoutout to Ms. Kempf and Ms. Maria! Ms. Kempf, 1st Grace Dual Language Teacher - She has been a tremendous addition to our team this year! She came in with strong classroom management, resilient lessons and a determination to reach and teach each of her students! She is a team player and enjoys celebrating her students successes! Thank you Ms. Kempf for join our SCJ Family! Ms. Maria, Special Education Assistant- Ms. Maria has been a staple in our 2nd grade but has stepped in at 1st grade to help our SCJ staff and students! She brings a wealth and experience and knowledge and willingness to jump in and help where needed the most! Mrs. Schutte, Kindergarten - She has been such a solid, motivating, caring addition to our Kindergarten team and school! She brings passion, acceptance, and a wealth of educational wisdom to reach and teach our youngest of learners! SCJ is better because of the foundation of learning she has set for our students!
Mrs. Walthers, 2nd Grade - She has been a rock in our building for quite some time! Her continued work to reach all her students to grow in their reading has been amazing! She has created a family of learners that support each other, care for each other and challenge each other to be better each day! We are thankful for her commitment to her students and our school community!

Ms. Heather, Building Sub- She has been a tremendous addition to our staff this year! Her love and passion for the students allows her to have successful classroom days when filling in for her fellow staff. From classroom asst to teacher to S3, she is willing to help out wherever is needed for our school! Thank you Ms. Heather for all that you do!
Ms. Hillary, DL Assistant- She always serves with a smile! Her and Ms. Rivera work amazing as a team and their students reap the benefit! Ms. Hillary is like having another teacher in the room, she co-plans, co-teaches and co-serves! She loves and cares for her students as if they are her own! Ms. Bak, Speech Path- Her detail, care, passion and work to help all her students communicate more efficiently is amazing! She has had so many students "graduate" out of her services and continues to reach more and more! I have learned so much from her and her determined work to explain to all members of the team is appreciated!
Mr. Mahnke, Phy Ed Teacher- He has such a big heart for our students and the health and physical fitness! He also had a huge heart to partner with the American Heart Association to model for our students that we can contribute to a greater good beyond just ourselves! He is such a team player and always willing to help wherever needed!

In celebration of National Women in Construction Week, Hunzinger Construction Company visited Goodland Montessori and S.C. Johnson Elementary yesterday. Team members, including Horlick alum and Hunzinger Project Manager Meagan DeGroot, read construction-themed books to K-4 students and shared insights about careers in construction.
Hunzinger is currently leading renovations at Goodland Montessori and recently completed work at SC Johnson Elementary as part of RUSD’s 2020 Referendum, making this a meaningful and inspiring connection for our students. #YouBelongHere
