Huge shoutout and recognition to these 2 amazing educators at SCJ! We are super thankful for what each of you brings to make SCJ an amazing school!
Ms. Bak, Speech Path- Her detail, care, passion and work to help all her students communicate more efficiently is amazing! She has had so many students "graduate" out of her services and continues to reach more and more! I have learned so much from her and her determined work to explain to all members of the team is appreciated!
Mr. Mahnke, Phy Ed Teacher- He has such a big heart for our students and the health and physical fitness! He also had a huge heart to partner with the American Heart Association to model for our students that we can contribute to a greater good beyond just ourselves! He is such a team player and always willing to help wherever needed!
Thank you both for modeling servant leadership and care within our school community! SCJ is thankful for your commitment!

In celebration of National Women in Construction Week, Hunzinger Construction Company visited Goodland Montessori and S.C. Johnson Elementary yesterday. Team members, including Horlick alum and Hunzinger Project Manager Meagan DeGroot, read construction-themed books to K-4 students and shared insights about careers in construction.
Hunzinger is currently leading renovations at Goodland Montessori and recently completed work at SC Johnson Elementary as part of RUSD’s 2020 Referendum, making this a meaningful and inspiring connection for our students. #YouBelongHere

Today is Internet Safety Day. Child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA) is a horrific crime that targets some of the most vulnerable people in our communities — children and teens. Resources for education, prevention and intervention of CSEA can be found at https://www.dhs.gov/know2protect
If you know of an incident, you can report it at the bottom of any Know2Protect webpage, by calling 988 for crisis support or 911 for an emergency.
The attached list provides ten steps you can take to prevent CSEA and create a safe digital experience for your child.

I want to recognize 2 more amazing educators here at SCJ Elementary!
Mrs. Hamlet, 2nd Grade Teacher - Mrs. Hamlet is one of our wisest and reliable staff in the building! She is always a team player and one of the few that actually beats me to work in the morning! Her love for teaching is only matched by her love for her students! SCJ and her students are lucky to have her!
Mrs. Hallblade, Special Ed Teacher - She works tirelessly to meet both the compliance and the compassion that her job asks for! She truly is passionate about her purpose to teach and reach all the students on her caseload. She maximizes every minute of the day to squeeze in as much care and teaching she can so her students have the best chance to succeed! Thank you Mrs. Hallblade for all you do!
