Early Student Check-Out Reminder

We strongly encourage all students to remain at school for the full instructional day whenever possible. The end of the day includes important learning, closure activities, and routines that support student success and safety. Leaving early can result in missed instruction, assessments, and important directions for the following day, as well as disrupt classroom learning.

If you do need to check your student out early, we ask that you contact the office before 2:50 p.m. After this time, dismissal procedures are underway and staff are moving to end-of-day duties. As a result, we may not be able to retrieve students in a timely manner, and families may need to wait until regular dismissal at 3:41 p.m.
Thank you for helping us protect instructional time and ensure a safe, organized dismissal for all students.

We invite you to help us identify the educators whose stories should be told. Nominate a colleague, or yourself, for The Passions Project 2026!

Nomination form: https://tinyurl.com/mwwhbtvs

Your nomination ensures that the authentic voices and experiences of our staff are represented and celebrated. Together, these narratives will shine a light on the humanity, commitment and passion within our school community.

Learn more about The Passions Movement at www.thepassionsmovement.com

THE PASSIONS PROJECT, spearheaded by Racine Educators United (and with support from the NEA CAPE Grant) is designed to uplift educator voices, celebrate the power of public education and help our community better understand the incredible work happening in our schools every day. Through this initiative, we hope to highlight the dedication, diversity and resilience that define Racine’s educators with a visual storytelling series that will feature 10 public school educators and the mentors who shaped them. Each story will be brought to life through professional portraits and video interviews.

Monday, January 12, the Board of Education will review the proposed 2026-27 school calendar, which includes all schools releasing one hour early most Wednesdays beginning in the fall. This is to allow our educators the opportunity to meet together, plan instruction and complete other professional obligations they cannot do while they are teaching.

For schools that offer extended learning or after-school care, those programs will begin an hour earlier on early release days.

The school board will vote on the 2026-27 school calendar at the Jan. 26 Board meeting. Once approved, we’ll share all the important dates with you!
