🌍 Our 5th graders are starting their PYP Exhibition with the theme Sharing the Planet, exploring how humans and nature are interconnected. We’d love your support! Please share a passion, cause, or issue that matters to you (environment, equity, sustainability, human rights, community, etc.) to help guide their inquiry by filling out this quick form:
What is your passion?
🧦 We’re also kicking off a sock fundraiser to help cover the cost of adding a mural to our elementary (PYP) wing. We are working with local artists (read more in the link below). Every pair purchased directly supports this effort!

As part of the MYP’s focus on developing caring, internationally minded learners, our 7th-grade students in Ms. Robbins’ Culinary classes completed a full inquiry cycle to explore one key question: What meal can we prepare—on our own—that will make a meaningful impact in our community?
Their answer? A delicious homemade “thank you” to the firefighters and paramedics who support us every day. 🚒❤️
Students planned their ingredients, calculated quantities, assigned cooking roles, and brought their recipes to life. They prepared spaghetti and meatballs, chicken alfredo with broccoli, and bacon mac and cheese—all delivered to Fire Stations 4 and 5.
We are so proud of their teamwork, organization, and commitment to service. Amazing job, chefs! 🍝👩🍳👨🍳
Visit rusd.org/SchoolChoice to learn about our choice schools and apply online.
Please note, we will be closed November 26 - 28 for Thanksgiving Recess.

Please plan to attend one of the three upcoming sessions to learn more about this important experience for your child. Your support and understanding make the Exhibition and Community Project more meaningful and exciting for them. Thank you for being a vital partner in this important learning journey.

Families - All fall school pictures taken are now available to view online. Please go online to choose which School Picture will appear in your Yearbook/Composite.*
To view and select your photo, look for an email sent to you by “Visual Image Photography”, or go to vipis.com to search for your gallery. (A student ID number may be required.) If you have any questions or cannot find your images, please contact VIP at support@vipis.com.
*Your deadline to make your yearbook picture selection is Sunday November 30th (after which VIP will choose a picture for you.) There is no deadline to order photo packages.
To keep students safe and avoid disruptions during the busiest part of our school day, please follow our end-of-day pickup procedures:
🕝 If you need to pick up your child after 2:50 PM, please call the office before 2:30 PM.
This allows us time to locate your student and have them ready.
🚫 If you call or arrive after 2:30 PM, you will need to wait until regular dismissal.
Students and staff are transitioning across the building at this time, and retrieval is not possible.
📚 From 2:50–3:35, PYP students are in Specials, middle school is finishing essential instruction, and staff are preparing for dismissal. Pulling students during this time is disruptive and unsafe.
⚠️ Early pickups should only happen in true emergencies, even for middle school students, as they miss critical end-of-day learning.
Thank you for helping us keep routines safe and smooth for all learners!
Watch Us Rise!
