On Friday, September 19th, Starbuck International will celebrate the International Day of Peace. This year’s theme is “Act Now for a Peaceful World”. The IB's mission is to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. We plan to assemble as a school outside on the grassy hill near 16th St. behind the middle school music rooms as follows:
9:00 AM MYP (Middle School students and staff)
10:00 AM PYP (Elementary School students and staff)
YOU BELONG: Families are welcome to join us outside to celebrate this event. Route to Peace Day Location
We will have our very own Miss Racine Teen, Jade Hooper, and local community members, Jamario Farr and Maurice Horton, to share a message about peace with us.
AGENCY: We’d like to empower students to be part of this. They will be able to share their thoughts with the entire school. If your child would like to participate, please have them work on this and turn it in to Mrs. Strain by Wednesday, September 17th.
Here are some ideas:
Think of the most peaceful person you know. Draw and/or write about him or her. Describe what makes them peaceful.
Create an interesting symbol of peace. Make it colorful. Be creative.
Write about what peace means to you. This could be a poem or a short paragraph.
Create a piece of art that shows peace.
Write a song about peace, love, or joy.
Other ideas? Be original and have fun!
🕊 EVERYONE! Wear PURPLE on Friday, Sept. 19th to represent peace!
