Our 6th graders had an amazing day at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago! They visited the Blue Paradox exhibit to learn about microplastics and how they impact our waterways, then explored the rest of the museum. It was a fun, hands-on learning experience all around. Thanks to #SCJcares for making this experience possible!

Mitchell families, are you interested in an afterschool program for the whole family? We have two this semester!
Focus on Community's F.A.S.T. ( Families and School Together) program is an 8-week program that helps build a stronger family unit.
Racine Literacy Council's Family Literacy program is a learning opportunity for both students and families, catered to your needs.
Check out the flyers below for more information and how to sign up for either program!

Our 6th graders proudly showcased their career fair projects to 5th graders, parents, community members, and staff! 🎉💼 It was amazing to see their creativity, confidence, and curiosity about future careers on full display. Thank you to everyone who came out to support our students! 👏

We invite you to help us identify the educators whose stories should be told. Nominate a colleague, or yourself, for The Passions Project 2026!
Nomination form: https://tinyurl.com/mwwhbtvs
Your nomination ensures that the authentic voices and experiences of our staff are represented and celebrated. Together, these narratives will shine a light on the humanity, commitment and passion within our school community.
Learn more about The Passions Movement at www.thepassionsmovement.com
THE PASSIONS PROJECT, spearheaded by Racine Educators United (and with support from the NEA CAPE Grant) is designed to uplift educator voices, celebrate the power of public education and help our community better understand the incredible work happening in our schools every day. Through this initiative, we hope to highlight the dedication, diversity and resilience that define Racine’s educators with a visual storytelling series that will feature 10 public school educators and the mentors who shaped them. Each story will be brought to life through professional portraits and video interviews.

Our students enjoyed a wonderful Read Aloud focused on literacy and diversity, featuring the book Who Has Hair Like Mine?
We were honored to have author Michelle Burch join us in person, while her daughter, illustrator Blanca Burch, joined virtually. Together, they shared the importance of literacy by reading a meaningful story that celebrated identity and diversity.
It was a memorable experience that sparked great conversations and learning for our students! 💛📖

Auditions will be conducted via the application and video audition linked above, allowing young performers to showcase their talents from home. Interested students must complete the audition application and submit their video by January 20.
Frozen: The Broadway Musical celebrates love, courage, and self-discovery, and Horlick Theater Arts looks forward to welcoming a new generation of performers to the stage.
