What sparks your child’s interest? Is it doing things with their hands? Science experiments? Music? Engineering, aviation or even cooking? Find the school that best suits your student at the Racine Unified School District (RUSD) Showcase, Saturday Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. - noon at Case High School.

RUSD has educational programs to fit any student’s needs, including Montessori, dual language, International Baccalaureate, STEAM, the Academies of Racine, virtual learning and more, plus the district’s offerings extend beyond the classroom. RUSD offers award-winning fine arts programs, Division 1 athletics and a wealth of before and after-school activities for all ages. 

Come see for yourself what makes RUSD schools stand out among the rest at the RUSD Showcase. You can meet with school staff, check out pictures of schools undergoing major remodels (and get a glimpse of the brand new schools coming soon!) and just have a good time! The RUSD showcase features FREE family photos against a winter-themed background, free food (while supplies last), kid-friendly activities and more. 

While you’re there, don’t forget to fill out a school choice application for your child. The School Choice Window is open Dec 1 through Jan. 15 and is your opportunity to apply for enrollment at a school other than your boundary school, including any one of our magnet schools - which are all tuition-free: 

  • Goodland Montessori (Ages 3 and up): the Montessori Program is based on self-directed activities in multi-age classrooms that emphasize learning through all five senses. 
  • Red Apple (K-5): a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) school providing students with many projects and interactive learning opportunities. This 2020 National Blue Ribbon School award winner will be expanding to a K-8 school in a brand new building starting in the 2025-26 school year. 
  • Gilmore Fine Arts (K-8): this school offers a world-class fine arts program with specialized instruction in art, instrumental music, choral music, drama and dance.
  • Starbuck K-8 International Baccalaureate (IB) Campus: opening in the fall of 2024, the newly renovated and expanded Starbuck will host students in both the IB Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme. Both International Baccalaureate programs offer students inquiry-led curriculum and project-based learning to develop active learners, and exploration of local and global issues to cultivate  internationally-minded students.
  • Walden III (6-12): named one of the best high schools in the nation by U.S. News and World Report, Walden III offers a small, close-knit learning environment where staff work to find unique ways to motivate each individual student. 
  • The R.E.A.L. School (6-12): the Racine Engineering, Arts and Leadership School offers a small, tight-knit learning environment in a beautiful, modern facility. In partnership with Gateway Technical College, The R.E.A.L. School offers engineering classes through the SC Johnson iMET Center.
  • RUSD Virtual Learning (K-12): an alternative to the traditional classroom, students can choose from more than 350 courses, receive a mentor teacher for support and can participate in sports and activities at their home school. 
  • The Academies of Racine (6-12): students attending Gifford, Jerstad-Agerholm and Mitchell K-8 schools, or Case, Horlick and Park High Schools, have the opportunity to be part of the Nationally-Certified Academies of Racine. These schools are embedded in the community thanks to hundreds of partnerships that afford students unique real-world learning experiences, including youth apprenticeships, industry certifications and dual credit opportunities. 

We hope you’ll come meet with staff and students from these schools and more at the RUSD Showcase to ensure you are finding the right fit for your child. After all, step 1 in the school choice process is research, step 2 is choosing your school and step three is applying for enrollment. The school choice application can be completed online through the Parent Portal, or accessed at rusd.org.

¿Cuáles son los intereses de su estudiante? ¿Le gusta trabajar con sus manos? ¿Experimentos científicos? ¿La música? ¿Ingeniería, aviación o incluso, la cocina?  Venga a la Expo de Escuelas del Distrito Escolar de Racine (RUSD, por sus siglas en inglés) el sábado, 2 de diciembre de 9 a.m. al mediodía en la escuela Case High School y encuentre la escuela que mejor se ajuste a los gustos de su estudiante.

RUSD tiene programas educativos para cumplir con las necesidades de cualquier estudiante.  Estos incluyen Montessori, lenguaje dual, Bachillerato Internacional, STEAM, las Academias de Racine, y aprendizaje virtual entre otros; además lo que el distrito ofrece va más allá del salón de clases.  RUSD tiene programas galardonados en bellas artes, deportes de División 1 y un sinfín de actividades antes y después de escuela para todas las edades.

Venga a la Expo de Escuelas de RUSD para ver, por usted mismo, todo lo que destaca a RUSD.  Podrá conocer al personal de las escuelas, ver fotos de las escuelas que están bajo remodelación (¡tomar un vistazo a las nuevas escuelas que están por construirse!) y pasar un buen rato.  ¡La Expo de Escuelas también contará con un espacio para tomar fotos familiares con un fondo divertido, muestras de comida gratis (hasta agotar existencia), actividades para los niños y mucho más!

Una vez ahí, no olvide rellenar la solicitud para una escuela de preferencia para su estudiante. El periodo para escoger una Escuela de Preferencia es del 1 de diciembre hasta el 15 de enero y es su oportunidad para aplicar para poder ir a una escuela que no es la que le corresponde por domicilio, incluyendo nuestras escuelas con especialidades – las cuales no requieren una colegiatura aparte.

  • Goodland Montessori (Para edades 3 años o más): El Programa Montessori se basa en actividades auto dirigidas en salones de diversas edades con un énfasis en el aprendizaje por medio de los cinco sentidos.  
  • Red Apple (K-5): Una escuela STEAM (ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería, arte y matemática) proporcionándole a los estudiantes varias oportunidades para proyectos y aprendizaje interactivo.  Esta escuela nombrada ganadora del listón azul nacional 2020 se está expandiendo a una escuela K-8  en un edificio nuevo para el ciclo escolar 2025-26. 
  • Gilmore Fine Arts (K-8): Esta escuela ofrece una educación en bellas artes a nivel mundial con instrucción especializada en arte, música instrumental, coro, drama y baile.
  • Starbuck K-8 Bachillerato Internacional (IB): abriendo en otoño de 2024, la nuevamente remodelada y expandida Starbuck será el hogar para estudiantes en el programa de la escuela primaria y de los años intermedios.  Ambos programas de Bachillerato Internacional ofrecen un currículo de indagación por el estudiante y aprendizaje en base de proyectos para desarrollar aprendices activos y la exploración de asuntos locales y globales para así cultivar estudiantes con ideas mundiales.
  • Walden III (6-12): Nombrada una de las mejores escuelas preparatorias en el país por la U.S. News & World Report, Walden III ofrece un ambiente de aprendizaje pequeño y acogedor donde el personal trabaja para encontrar métodos especializados para motivar a cada estudiante.
  • The R.E.A.L. School (6-12): La escuela Racine Engineering, Arts and Leadership School ofrece un ambiente de aprendizaje pequeño y unido en un edificio bonito y moderno. En colaboración con Gateway Technical College, The R.E.A.L. School ofrece clases de ingeniería en el centro iMET de SC Johnson. 
  • RUSD Virtual Learning (K-12): Una opción alternativa al salón tradicional donde los estudiantes pueden elegir entre una variedad de más de 350 cursos, tener un maestro mentor para brindar apoyo y también pueden participar en deportes y actividades en su escuela de domicilio.

Recuerde, el paso 1 en el proceso de solicitar una Escuela de Preferencia es investigar sus opciones, paso 2 es escoger su escuela y el paso 3 es rellenar su solicitud en el Portal para Padres o lo puede accesar en rusd.org.
