The District’s WINGS Volunteer Program exists to enhance the educational experiences of students and assist teachers in the classroom. Annually, volunteers donate thousands of hours of service to benefit students. This positive interaction with volunteers often leads to improved self-esteem and academic improvement. In addition, volunteers can help provide a positive environment for students.
Many Ways To Help
WINGS is designed to be as involved as your interests and time allow. Community members can support students and teachers in many ways. Volunteers can work directly with students as tutors, especially in the critical subjects of math, science and reading, or they can be mentors, working one-on-one with students.
How Do I Volunteer?
All volunteers are required to complete the online volunteer application, even if they were previously approved. Volunteers that do not complete the online application will not be allowed to serve in the District until they do so. Volunteers only need to complete one online application, as it will suffice for all volunteer opportunities throughout the entire District. Please click here to complete the application.
Important information regarding the WINGS volunteer process:
- Only 1 application is needed per volunteer with the option to select multiple school locations to volunteer.
- Applications MUST be filled out on an annual basis. Approved applications are only valid from July 1, XXXX - June 30, XXXX for each given school year.
- Applications can take up to 24-48 hours to process and become approved. At times some applications may take longer.
- Verify that all information entered into the application is the correct information for the individual applying. Utilizing cell phones to submit applications can cause self-population fields that will result in missing/incorrect information related to the applicant which could potentially cause a delay in processing or even a declined application.
- Approved applications will receive an email from our volunteers@rusd.org confirming your applications approval.
- Individuals that have applied to volunteer may also contact any school in our district to confirm your approved status.
- Denied applications will receive a letter in the US Mail regarding the denial.
¿Cómo puedo ser voluntario?
Se requiere que todo voluntario rellene el formulario por internet, aunque haya sido aprobado anteriormente. Voluntarios quienes no rellenen el formulario por internet no podrán servir en el Distrito hasta que lo hayan hecho. Los voluntarios solo necesitan rellenar el formulario por internet una vez, ya que será suficiente para todas las oportunidades que hay para ser voluntario en el Distrito Escolar. Información importante sobre el proceso WINGS para aplicar y ser voluntario:
- Solo se necesita rellenar una solicitud por la opción de poder seleccionar varias escuelas para ser voluntario.
- Las solicitudes TIENEN que rellenarse todos los años. Las solicitudes solo son validas del 1 de julio, XXXX hasta el 30 de junio, XXXX para cada ciclo escolar.
- Las solicitudes pueden tomar de 24 a 48 horas para procesarse y ser aprobadas. En veces las solicitudes pueden tomar más tiempo.
- Verifique que toda la información que esté proporcionando en la solicitud sea la información correcta para el solicitante. Utilizar teléfonos celulares para rellenar su solicitud puede causar que algunas preguntas sean contestadas automáticamente y esto puede causar que haya información faltante o incorrecta para la persona solicitando ser voluntario. Esto puede causar un retraso en procesamiento o que la solicitud sea rechazada/no aprobada.
- Personas aprobadas recibirán un correo electrónico de volunteers@rusd.org confirmando la aprobación de su solicitud.
- Personas quienes hayan rellenado su solicitud para ser voluntario, también pueden comunicarse a cualquier escuela del distrito para confirmar su estatus de aprobación.
- Solicitudes que no son aprobadas recibirán una carta por correo tradicional sobre el resultado.
