Early Learning Programs

RUSD offers some of the best state-recognized 3K, 4K and 5K programs taught by licensed, award-winning teachers. Our 4K program is one of the most expansive and accessible programs around, with both full- and half-day options, and even dual language options for students to start learning in both English and Spanish.  Learn more about our offerings below. 

Early Learning Options (See programs by school here)

P-COC (3-Year-Old Program)
The Parent-Child Oriented Classroom is a classroom for children who are age three by September 1 of the academic year and includes opportunities for parents to get involved in the classroom monthly.  This program is offered at Bull Early Education Center. 

4K

4K is a kindergarten program for children who are age 4 by September 1 of the academic year.  Children engage in a research and play-based curriculum to develop language skills, listening skills, muscle coordination and social skills. 

Montessori

The Montessori program offers classes starting at age 3 that emphasize independence and respect for a child's naturally developing cognitive, physical and social skills. This program is offered at Goodland Elementary. 

Waterford Upstart

The Waterford Upstart program is an at-home, kindergarten readiness program available to 4-year-old children living in the Racine School District. Internet and computers are provided to families who may not have them.  To learn more about this program click here

Developmental Screenings

Free early childhood developmental screenings are offered by appointment for children from birth to age 5, not currently attending kindergarten. You can call 262.631.7151 to schedule an appointment.
