We wrapped up last week by celebrating our 4K students during their promotion ceremonies! It’s hard to believe these students will make up the Class of 2039!

This year in 4K was filled with fun projects, lots of learning, and plenty of laughter. While their teachers are sad to see them move on, we are so excited to watch them grow and see all they accomplish in the future. We’re grateful that JA could be part of the start of their educational journey! #JAALLDAY 🖤💛

This week, hundreds of students at Mitchell, Olympia Brown, Gifford, Schulte and Jerstad-Agerholm celebrated the completion of Everfi's Financial Literacy courses with Educators Credit Union!

Students showed off their financial knowledge with a series of games that highlighted their ability to make smart money decisions. To make things better, 82% of these students completed BOTH Everfi courses. 🎉

THANK YOU to Everfi, Educators Credit Union and the volunteers who made this program possible for our students. #YouBelongHere

With the support of EverFi and Educators Credit Union we were able to celebrate the completion of the 6th grade Financial Literacy program. We invited all of Mr. Tristano's 6th grade Seminar students to participate in a Financial Literacy Field Day, where they were able to apply their newly acquired knowledge in fun games based on everyday scenarios. With the ultimate goal of reminding the students that it's not just about how much money you make in the future, it's about how well you manage what you have.

Our 6th grade students recently brought history to life through their Latin America Museum Project! Students researched the geography, civilizations, cultures, independence movements, and modern issues of Latin America, then created museum-style exhibits and artifacts to showcase their learning. From Aztec shields, Panama Canal replicas, explorer navigation tools, maps, environmental displays, and independence artifacts, students explored how geography, history, and culture have shaped Latin America over time. Families and staff were invited to walk through the museum, ask questions, and experience the creativity, critical thinking, and hard work our students put into this project. We are so proud of the way our students stepped into the role of historians, designers, and storytellers! #JAALLDAY

As reading scores in Wisconsin continue to decline, we have made noticeable gains at Racine Unified!

A renewed focus on early literacy has put our change in Reading Achievement on an upward trajectory for 3rd-8th-grade students since 2023. During that same time, the average of similar districts has fallen and leveled off.

Read more in this Wisconsin Public Radio article.

A graph displaying the change in Reading Achievement sind 2019 for 3-8 grade students. A notable takeaway is starting at 2023, test scores for RUSD began to climb while the average of the scores for Madison, Kenosha, Waukesha, Neenah and Green Bay's school districts continued to fall.
This morning we had the pleasure of welcoming 94 special visitors for our 3rd All Pro Dad’s Breakfast of the school year! 💛🖤
Father figures had the opportunity to stand up and share why they are proud of their student, and we had a great discussion about what it means to be a good friend. Everyone also had a blast participating in a fun “pass the hula hoop” game, all while enjoying some delicious breakfast burritos from Sausage Kitchen!
We are already looking forward to hosting more All Pro Dad’s Breakfasts next school year and hope to see even more of you there!

Over the last few weeks, students in Ms. Weisbrod’s science classes have been learning all about cells. This module culminated with an exciting “cell scavenger hunt” around the school building!

Students searched for locations in the building that function similarly to different parts of a cell. At each stop, they answered questions and worked together to solve clues that helped them determine a final code to complete their assignment.

Learning experiences like this help students make real-world connections and bring classroom concepts to life. We are so grateful for teachers like Ms. Weisbrod who create engaging opportunities for our students to learn in new and creative ways!

Last Friday our 3rd–5th grade students had the opportunity to participate in our annual Black History Bee! Over the past several weeks, students spent time learning about influential African American leaders, important time periods in our nation’s history, and their lasting impact.

During the Bee, students competed by answering questions one at a time until we crowned our first-place winner. We are incredibly proud of all of our participants for their hard work and dedication!

Congratulations to everyone who participated, and a special shout-out to our winner, Sahni! Keep showing us your academic excellence, Jaguars!
