Our students in Mrs. Neimeyer's Intro to Culinary classes put their creativity and teamwork to the test in an exciting Cupcake Wars challenge! Students chose their own groups and selected a theme, then designed a poster board to showcase their idea. Using a basic vanilla cupcake and buttercream recipe, they were challenged to add their own unique twist by creating a custom flavor in either the cake or the frosting.
The cupcakes were decorated to match each group’s theme, with students given 2 days for trials and 2 days for their final creation. The experience wrapped up with presentations to a panel of judges made up of staff, student ambassadors, ASC staff, and community partners.
Students were graded on:
Flavor
Cake Execution
Presentation
Theme Tie-In
Delivery and Explanation
Judges then voted on their overall favorite for each class—and the winning group will earn lunch on Mrs. Neimeyer! 🍕🎉
We are so proud of our students for their creativity, collaboration, and confidence. What a sweet way to learn!
Thank you to our community partner, Festival Foods, for sending over some of their staff to round out our panel of judges today!

THE PASSIONS PROJECT, spearheaded by Racine Educators United (and with support from the NEA CAPE Grant) is designed to uplift educator voices, celebrate the power of public education and help our community better understand the incredible work happening in our schools every day. Through this initiative, we hope to highlight the dedication, diversity and resilience that define Racine’s educators with a visual storytelling series that will feature 10 public school educators and the mentors who shaped them. Each story will be brought to life through professional portraits and video interviews.

The visit gave students a chance to learn about the role of police dogs, build positive connections, and experience calm, supportive interactions in a fun and meaningful way. Smiles were everywhere as students asked questions, practiced gentle interactions, and made a new four-legged friend!
We are grateful for our community partners who help create safe, engaging, and memorable experiences for our students. Thank you to the Caledonia Police Department and Rosie for making today extra special! 👮♂️🐾

Over the past few weeks, students studied basic economic principles like supply, demand, opportunity cost, imports/exports, and tariffs. They were then challenged to apply that learning by creating a business. Each student designed and produced 12 paper products at home.
On Market Day, December 18th, students became buyers and sellers. They set up storefronts, analyzed demand, adjusted prices, and made decisions in real time as they sold their products to classmates. Some products sold out quickly. Others did not. Every outcome led to decisions, reflection, and learning.
We are proud of the hard work, creativity, and persistence these students showed throughout the Paper Product Marketplace.
