The Facilities Advisory Council includes members from the community as well as District staff. It includes four subcommittees. One of these subcommittees is focused on maintenance projects across the District.

In March 2015, the Board of Education approved a 10-year Facilities Plan.

Jerstad - Agerholm K-8 Campus McKinley Middle School

Jerstad - Agerholm K-8 Campus - began receiving mechanical improvements including a new heating and cooling system.  Work scheduled to be completed fall 2017. 

McKinley Middle School - Fire alarm replacement was completed summer 2017.

Case High School Hammes Track - Repairs, replacement and improvements work completed summer 2017.

Administration Services Campus - Replace heating and cooling unit (HVAC/ RTU).  Work completed summer 2017.

Roosevelt Elementary School - Parking lot replacement, asphalt and sealcoating work to be completed by summer 2017.

Horlick High School Library with Americans with Disability Act (ADA) Construction Improvements - providing accessibility to the library (ramp for access to lower & new carpeting) work to be completed summer 2017.

Racine Alternative Learning and Virtual School - construction of school facilities at Northwestern Avenue for Turning Point Academy and Virtual Learning programs. Work to be complete by fall 2017.

Mitchell Middle School - Removal and replacement of 15,000 square feet of asbestos flooring in the cafeteria, hallways & gyms.

Jefferson Elementary School and Goodland Elementary School - Removal & replacement of 5,000 square feet of asbestos flooring in classrooms.

SC Johnson Elementary School - Improvements for Americans with Disability Act (ADA) compliance at the entry.

Jerstad-Agerholm Elementary School, Janes Elementary School and Dr. Jones Elementary School - Secure entry vestibules.

Spring 2017

New REAL School
Horlick High School - Science
Horlick High School - Trades building

New REAL School Construction at 10116 Stellar Ave Sturtevant. Work will be completed fall 2017. 

Horlick High School Science Classrooms and Renovation - New construction and renovation of science classrooms. Work will be completed fall/ winter 2017.

Horlick High School Trades building construction to be completed fall 2017.

Winter 2016 Jerstad - Agerholm K-8 Campus, McKinley Middle School In winter 2016-2017, Jerstad - Agerholm will receive mechanical improvements including a new heating and cooling system. Additionally, McKinley Middle School will receive a new fire alarm system.
Summer and Fall 2016 Horlick High School, Mitchell Middle School, North Park and Knapp Elementary

In the summer and fall of 2016, at least four RUSD schools will receive maintenance thanks to referendum funding. Here is a list of the improvement projects scheduled to be completed using referendum funds:

  • Horlick Theater fire curtain and stage rigging replacement
  • Mitchell Middle School door replacement
  • North Park Elementary School window replacement
  • Original Knapp Elementary School building demolition

June 15, 2015

All Schools 

The Board of Education approved the borrowing of $9,700,000 for making improvements and major maintenance repairs to District schools. [Read more]

May 18, 2015

Giese Elementary School

The Board of Education approved Cicchini Asphalt LLC to remove existing sidewalks, stoops and portions of the parking lot and replace it with new concrete and asphalt. The total amount of the project is not to exceed $262,107 and the work is expected to begin this summer. [Read more]

Wadewitz Elementary School

The Board of Education approved Parking Lot Maintenance, Inc. to remove existing sidewalks, stoops and portions of the parking lot and replace it with new concrete and asphalt. The total amount of the project is not to exceed $140,300 and the work is expected to begin this summer. [Read more]

May 18, 2015

Case High School

The Board of Education approved F.J.A. Christiansen Roofing Company to replace the roof for $1,488,193. The work is scheduled to begin this summer. [Read more]

Dr. Jones Elementary School

The Board of Education approved Carlson Roofing of Racine to replace the roof for $736,038. The work is scheduled to begin this summer. [Read more]

All Schools

The Board approved the issuance and sale of $5,000,000 taxable note. The bonds will be issued to Johnson Bank with a 1.68 percent interest rate. This money allows the District to use money from this year's referendum next year for the building of the new schools. [Read more]

April 27, 2015 Case High School

The Board of Education approved Absolute Construction for construction management services for the Case High School Fieldhouse remodeling project for a cost not to exceed $3,000,000. Some of the work will include construction of a new floor and bleachers, rehabbing of the locker room area and new paint. Construction on the fieldhouse has begun.
