What an incredible day for our 6th graders at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago! Students dove into the Blue Paradox exhibit, discovering how microplastics affect our waterways, and then set off to explore the many exciting exhibits throughout the museum. From hands-on activities to fascinating discoveries, it was a day packed with curiosity, learning, and fun.

This week our 4th–6th grade students participated in an exciting, hands-on learning experience with The Hour of AI! 🎉💻

Students worked through breakout-style challenges to earn clues and unlock locks, finishing by using Chromebooks to code a micro:bit. Along the way, they learned what AI is, how it can help, what information is appropriate to share, and how to analyze AI-generated data.

This opportunity was made possible through a generous grant from Microsoft. We are incredibly grateful for their support and also want to thank our amazing RUSD staff who helped make this event a success!

Middle School students are hard at work in the brand-new wood shop, honing hands-on skills while building confidence and craftsmanship. Many are preparing for SkillsUSA, with a competition taking place next week, where their teamwork and technical abilities will be on full display. A standout project includes designing and building CO₂ cars, blending engineering, problem-solving, and woodworking into fast, fun creations.
