Where did life lead you after high school?
After graduating from high school, I attended Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science this past May. During my time at Southern, I became deeply involved on campus through leadership, service, and extracurricular activities. I was a proud member of the Human Jukebox Marching Band and the Fabulous Dancing Dolls, serving as Co-Captain during my junior and senior years. While on the Dancing Dolls, I had the incredible opportunity to perform on The Jennifer Hudson Show and in the Super Bowl LIX Pregame Show, experiences that showcased the talent and tradition of Southern University on national stages. In Spring 2024, I was initiated into the Beta Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, where I continued my commitment to scholarship, leadership, and service through campus and community initiatives. These experiences, along with my dedication to academic excellence, helped shape me into the leader I am today.
What are you doing now?
I recently graduated from Southern University in May 2026 and will begin pursuing my Master of Public Administration at Southern this fall. I am also exploring opportunities in state government, legislative affairs, and public policy to gain experience in public service while continuing my education.
What are your long-term goals?
My long-term goal is to build a career in public service and eventually become an attorney or policy analyst. I hope to work in government and policy, advocating for equitable laws and opportunities while making a meaningful impact in my community. Ultimately, I aspire to hold leadership roles where I can influence policy, serve others, and create lasting change.
How did your high school experience help prepare you for the life you are leading and what is to come?
My high school experience gave me a strong academic foundation and taught me the importance of discipline, perseverance, and leadership. It encouraged me to challenge myself, step outside my comfort zone, and pursue opportunities that helped me grow. Those lessons prepared me to succeed in college, balance demanding responsibilities, and remain focused on achieving my goals.
What else would you like me to know?
Every chapter of my journey has taught me something valuable. From balancing academics with extracurricular activities to stepping into leadership roles and navigating challenges, every moment taught me perseverance and the power of believing in myself, even when the journey felt uncertain. I hope my story encourages current students to trust the process, embrace every opportunity, and never underestimate what they are capable of achieving. Success doesn't always happen overnight, but consistency, resilience, and self-belief can open doors you never imagined. I'm grateful for the support and foundation my hometown and upbringing provided, and I'm excited to see where this next chapter takes me.
