Racine Case Youth Apprentice

After being accepted into a youth apprenticeship with Hunzinger Construction, Terrance Riley-Smith knew he had found his path. The recent Case High School graduate worked on renovations at Goodland Montessori School, gaining hands-on experience in construction while building confidence and life skills.

Through The Racine Area Manufacturers and Commerce youth apprenticeship program, Riley-Smith worked alongside construction professionals, helping with demolition, cleaning and building projects.

His mother, Vertis Riley, said the experience helped him grow into a more confident and capable young man. Coworkers praised his strong work ethic and willingness to learn, and Hunzinger plans to continue working with him as a registered apprentice.

Now pursuing a career in construction, Riley-Smith said the apprenticeship changed his life, giving him direction, confidence and a strong support system as he looks toward the future. Read more here.
