We are hosting Water Safety Instructor classes here at the RUSD Aquatic Center. Follow the link below to sign up for the class. This course also known as WSI™ trains American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor candidates to teach courses and presentations in the Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants’ progress. The courses and presentations include Parent and Child Aquatics Levels 1 and 2 Preschool Aquatics Levels 1 - 3 Learn-to-Swim Levels 1 - 6 three adult courses as well as the Basic Water Rescue and Personal Water Safety courses and more. To enroll instructor candidates must be at least 16 years of age on or before the last day of the instructor course and successfully complete the precourse session which includes demonstration of swimming skill at Learn-to-Swim Level 4. Tonight, the RUSD Board of Education approved placing a referendum on the April 1 ballot. The proposed 5-year, $190 million non-recurring referendum would: - Prevent cutting programs like the Academies of Racine and protect smaller class sizes - Attract and retain excellent teachers and staff who are essential for delivering high-quality education - Invest in the safety and security of our schools This referendum is needed because for more than a decade state funding has fallen short, and more and more districts are forced to pass referendums to balance budgets. Greetings Excited that Thanksgiving is right around the corner? We have some news for this week! Be sure to check our calendar because we are going to be closed from Nov 27-29 for the holiday. December 1st (Sunday), feel free to come to the aquatic center for a swim assessment. For these assessments, you do not need an appointment, and all you need to do is arrive with a swim suit and a towel and expect to get assessed by one of our swim instructors.
