What a great first week! From kindergarteners finding their first cubby to seniors' 'last first day of school', our students are ready to take on the year. Here are a few of our favorite moments from across RUSD this week. #YouBelongHere

If you attended Jerstad-Agerholm's ribbon cutting ceremony, you know how beautiful the renovations and new construction are. But did you know some of that work was done by an RUSD youth apprentice?
Take a look at this story about Israel Hernandez, a construction pathway student at the Academies of Racine at Park. Israel is one of 16 students working on 2020 referendum projects across the district. #YouBelongHere

Starbuck International K-8 School Phoenixes are ready to rise to the occasion at their amazing school! At last evening's ribbon cutting and open house, families had the chance to tour Starbuck's newly constructed and remodeled classrooms and new gymnasium.
We can't wait to see you back on Tuesday for the first day of school! #YouBelongHere

Jaguars will be back on the prowl when school starts on Tuesday! #YouBelongHere

With school starting on September 3, you'll soon see school buses returning to the roads. Here are two reminders for bus safety when you are driving around town. #YouBelongHere

This is un-BEE-lievable!
Fratt Elementary had its first sighting of the federally endangered Rusty Patched Bumblebee in their Pollinator Patch! While the primary goal of these patches is promoting water quality through native plants, the second mission is bringing awareness to/providing habitat for the Rusty.
The Rusty's range has shrunk by almost 90% over the last 20 years and Wisconsin is the last hope for the conservation of this species.
Check out the Root-Pike Watershed Initiative Network for more updates.

A class at Knapp Elementary are published authors with the help of their substitute teacher, Taylor Martin!
To spread the importance of kindness and what that trait means to them, their class created 'The Importance of Kindness', a story of a girl named Sarina, who is a bully at her school. When Sarina gets expelled, her world is turned upside down and she finds she is now the one being bullied at her new school. Sarina learns a valuable lesson about kindness through the story.
'The Importance of Kindness' can be purchased on Amazon.com, with the profits going towards the purchase of more books for classroom libraries. #YouBelongHere
