Drones

Students at Horlick High School in Racine are gaining new opportunities through the school’s aviation program by earning drone pilot licenses. Senior, Tayshon Allen discovered his interest in aviation through the program and now hopes to turn it into a career. This year, nine seniors passed the challenging drone certification exam, the highest number since the program began in 2021, Allen being one of them. Students spent months studying, but many say the hard work has paid off since the license can lead to high-paying jobs right after high school. As drone technology continues to grow, students can use their skills in fields such as aerial photography, infrastructure inspection, drone shows, and public safety. The program also includes competitions and obstacle courses that help students build their flying skills while preparing for future careers.
