Jonathan Barba, Park High School, Class of 2024
After high school, I embarked on a fulfilling journey as a full-time carpenter in the union and the youngest union employee at VJS Construction Service. Reflecting on my high school experience, I realize how crucial it was during a challenging time in my life. I had a passion for construction, a strong work ethic and supportive teachers who helped me excel in my tech-ed classes.
Today, I'm still dedicated to my craft while also embracing the rewarding role of being a father to my two beautiful boys. Throughout my journey, I've been passionate about leading and encouraging others, especially the youth.
My future plans involve not only excelling in leadership, finance and personal development, but also striving to become the best version of myself while helping others achieve their goals.
Reflecting on my high school experience, I realize how crucial it was during a challenging time in my life. Despite personal struggles that affected my education, programs like the construction pathway, competency program and youth apprenticeship program kept me engaged and motivated. They taught me that there’s a place for me in this world, no matter the obstacles I face. I’m committed to using my leadership skills to uplift others and glorify God in everything I do.
