Title I

Julian Thomas is a Title I school. Title I is a federal program that provides funds to school districts and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children who are disadvantaged to support a variety of services.  Its overall purpose is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and assessments. The students that are identified as having the greatest need of intervention qualify for services. Groups consist of three or fewer students.

Ms. AlfanoMrs. Johnson , and Mrs. Sadowski work on reading with students in grades K-2. All three teachers are trained in Racine Early Intervention (REI) which is based on Reading Recovery and is an intensive, 30 minute, one-on-one reading intervention used mainly with 1st-2nd graders. For more information about REI, please watch the following video or contact Ms. Alfano, Mrs. Johnson and/or Mrs. Sadowski at Julian Thomas Elementary.
