ACT Prep Days Added to High School Calendar

The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has approved a waiver allowing Racine Unified School District to adjust our 2017-2018 calendar to add five (5) ACT prep days. High school juniors had the opportunity to take an ACT practice test on Tuesday, Oct. 31 and will also participate in four (4) ACT prep sessions throughout the next several months. The school year calendar will adjust as follows.

·         Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017: 2 hour late start for freshmen, sophomores and seniors – school will start at 9:15 a.m.

Juniors will report to school at the regularly scheduled start time.

·         Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017:  2 hour late start for freshmen, sophomores and seniors – school will start at 9:15 a.m.

Juniors will report to school at the regularly scheduled start time.

·         Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018: 2 hour late start for freshmen, sophomores and seniors – school will start at 9:15 a.m.

Juniors will report to school at the regularly scheduled start time.

·         Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018: 2 hour late start for freshmen, sophomores and seniors – school will start at 9:15 a.m.

Juniors will report to school at the regularly scheduled start time.

On the above late start days – students in 9th, 10th, and 12th grade who ride the school bus and must arrive at the normal start time of 7:15 a.m., will need to report directly to the cafeteria until the start of the school day at 9:15 a.m.  Students will not be allowed to leave the cafeteria during this time. This would be a great opportunity for students to work on homework, missing assignments, etc. There will be NO ENTRY INTO THE BUILDING AFTER 7:15 AM until the door opens for the start of the school day at approximately 9:00 a.m. If you have any questions relating to these upcoming prep testing days, please contact the school at 262.619.4300. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. This is a great opportunity for our junior students to build the skills necessary to excel on the ACT test in February. Our ACT scores are a significant factor in our On-Track and Postsecondary Readiness portion of the District’s and school’s state report card and will help our students graduate career and/or college ready!
