RUSD Honors 155 Staff Members with Encore! Awards


On May 6, 2016, during the third annual Encore! Awards in Education event, 155 RUSD educators were recognized for their success in improving achievement for their students. In addition to a plaque, each recipient received $100 for classroom supplies through the generous sponsorship of S.C. Johnson. A special thanks also to Educators Credit Union who sponsored the event held at Memorial Hall.

This year, 155 elementary, middle and high school teachers, educational assistants, clerical staff, engineers and paraprofessionals were honored in three categories. For a list of winners click here.

Superintendent’s Gold Star Award: Award recipients led 80 percent of their students to meet their projected RIT target from fall to winter in math or reading as measured by MAP.

Encore! Award: Award recipients have shown evidence of fostering excellent academic achievement, secured significant grant funding to support a District or school initiative or implemented an innovative project or program within their school.

Principal’s Choice Award: This award is given to an educational assistant, clerical staff, custodial staff, LPN or paraprofessional who consistently contributes to making their school a better place, puts in extra effort and demonstrates high expectations for all students.

On Friday, the District also recognized one RUSD teacher who achieved National Board Certification. Case High School teacher Michele Steger completed the National Board Certification process which is considered one of the highest levels of distinction in teaching.

Special guests included Racine Mayor John Dickert, County Executive Jonathan Delagrave, Sen. Van Wanggaard and Rep. Peter Barca.
