Celebrating RUSD Staff Who Help Students Power Through the Day

This week is School Nutrition Association’s National School Lunch Week! This week recognizes the importance of a healthy school lunch and the impact it has on a child’s life both inside and outside of the classroom. We’d like to take this time to give a shout-out to ALL RUSD lunch staff for their hard work and sincerely thank them for helping RUSD students achieve academic success through good nutrition. Our lunch staff works hard every day to instill in our students an appreciation for eating a healthy breakfast and help them utilize personal choices to create healthy habits that last a lifetime.

Their dedication is appreciated this week and all year!

Did you know some our lunch staff have been with the District for 20, 30 even 40+ years?! Yvonne Peterson has been preparing food for RUSD students for the last 41 years – and called Park High School home since 1980.

“That’s even before these students were born!” Peterson joked.

When asked what keeps her going Peterson said, “Patience. And the women I get to work with. The people here are wonderful. A lot has changed over the years – the food is different, the kids change – but the friendships I have are stronger than ever.”

Check out some of our other lunch staff with the longest RUSD tenures in the slideshow below.
