RUSD HOSA Students Earn Healthy Vision Award

Racine Unified’s Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) chapters have earned the Healthy Vision Award from Prevent Blindness Wisconsin.

The Children’s Healthy Vision Award recognizes a children’s program partner who makes children’s vision health a reality. Racine Unified School District’s commitment children’s vision health by enabling the students to become certified as vision screeners and provide vision screenings within their school district exemplifies this fact.

The HOSA chapters at Case, Horlick and Park have been trained to perform vision screenings. These students receive a certificate from the training and then sign up to assist school nurses at the elementary schools in student vision screenings.

The students and their instructors were recognized at the annual Board meeting in May.
