Thank You, Schools of Hope Tutors!

Racine Unified School District and United Way of Racine County are celebrating the end of another successful Schools of Hope year. The program, which started at Wadewitz and Olympia Brown Elementary School in 2011, has grown over the past five years. Through the program, volunteers spend 25 minutes each week with a student working on reading and writing skills.

During the next couple weeks, each Schools of Hope school will hold an end-of-year celebration to recognize the improvement students have made over the course of the year. As part of the celebrations, students are given up to ten books and a writing journal to encourage them to continue to read and write and build on what they’ve learned throughtout the summer months.

Racine Unified would like to thank all of the volunteers who help make this program such a success. Our students are better readers and writers because of you!
