RUSD Students Excel at HOSA Competition, Advance to National Competition


On Sunday, April 13 through Monday, April 15, Park and Case High School HOSA Chapter students attended the State Leadership Conference in Wisconsin Dells.

Over the course of those three days, students members competed in various competitive events as well as listening to Keynote Speakers, participate in numerous breakout seasons and network with students from the other 68 state chapters.

Congratulations to the following students who will be advancing to the next round at HOSA International Leadership Conference in June:

Park High School

  • Gabrielle Valdez, Outstanding HOSA Chapter
  • Estefania Alfonso, National Service Project
  • Victoria Jones, State Service Project
  • Victoria Jones, Sports Medicine 3rd place
  • Jaylen Boykin & Juanita Arroyo, Health Career Display Board 2nd place

Park now has a Wisconsin State Officer. Salinas Rangel was voted and installed as Project Coordinator. She will begin her journey as she represents the state, along with other fellow officers, at the HOSA International Conference in Orlando, FL in June.

Horlick High School

  • Normandina Lobo, Extemporaneous Healthcare Poster 1st place
  • Jessica Martinez-Cruz, Extemporaneous Healthcare Writing 1st place
  • Sarah Spiegelhoff, Healthy Lifestyle 5th place
  • Holly Nebel, Outstanding HOSA Chapter
  • La'Sadiez West, National Service Project
  • Kayla Sairs, HOSA Scholarship Recipient

Normandina and Jessica will compete again at the HOSA International Conference in Orlando, FL in June.

Case High School

  • Karen Delacruz-Ramirez received 2nd place on the transcultural healthcare knowledge test
  • Abigail Kortendick received 5th place in biomedical laboratory science
