Starbuck Tech Ed Students Design Skateboards for Class Project

Students at Starbuck Middle School are getting hands on experience as they work to build their very own skateboards from start to finish. Scott Terry, Tech Ed teacher at Starbuck, created this project to enhance student learning with hands on experience so they can put their skills to practice and go through all the steps of the process to make a skateboard from inception to completion. Terry stated that they learn to draw blue prints, measure, cut and shape wood.  Students learned the importance of how critical it is to get each step right. One student said that it made her be careful and double check her measuring to ensure that it was right. The project will take less than a month to complete and the students will be able to take home the skate board to use for themselves or give to a friend or family member.
