RUSD Holds Fourth Annual Spanish Spelling Bee


RUSD held its fourth annual District-wide Spanish Spelling Bee on March 11 and 12 at the Administrative Service Campus. Each of the ten Dual Language program schools had individual school competitions for grades 3-8 and sent their top two students to compete at the District level event.

On Monday, March 11, elementary school students from Fratt, Julian Thomas, Janes, Wadewitz, Dr. Jones, SC Johnson and Mitchell Elementary Schools competed for the top spot. 

The elementary group medalists were:

1st place: Genesis Montalvo-Escandon, Dr. Jones Elementary School  

2nd place: Emmanuel Chamorro, Wadewitz Elementary School

3rd Place: Wendy Mozo, Dr. Jones Elementary School

On Tuesday, March 12, middle school students from Mitchell, Jerstad and Starbuck Middle Schools competed for the top spot.

The middle school group medalists were:

1st place: Miguel Toscano, Mitchell School

2nd place: Keila Maus-Dominguez, Jerstad-Agerholm School

3rd place: Juan Potes, Mitchell School
