Operation Warm is a Success at Giese

A national organization is making sure students at Giese Elementary School stay warm this winter.

On Wednesday, Feb. 12, Operation Warm, a nonprofit that creates brand new, high-quality coats for children in need, delivered a winter coat to every student at Giese Elementary.

More than 16% of children in Wisconsin live in families with incomes below the federal poverty line. Necessities like warm winter clothing can be hard to come by when food, housing, heat and healthcare take priority.

Teachers and staff helped each child pick out a colorful, brand new winter coat and write their name in the interior tag, which reads, “Made Just for You.”
