Case Teacher Selected as Outstanding Volunteer of the Year

Case High School teacher Courtney Wynia has been selected as a recipient of the 2020 Outstanding Volunteer of the Year- United Way of Racine County VITA Program by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.

This award is given to Courtney in recognition of her many years of service and volunteerism to the VITA program. Her dedication to Wisconsin taxpayers and service to VITA through Case High School is uniquely fitting for this award recognition.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is a national program staffed by local volunteers to provide free preparation and electronic filing of tax returns for low-to-moderate-income taxpayers and individuals, people with disabilities and limited English-speaking taxpayers.

In 2019 alone, VITA brought back over $1 million dollars to the Racine community - money that helped support families with groceries, home repairs and many other expenses.

Peter Barca, Secretary of Revenue, will congratulate her along with other awarded volunteers and site coordinators across the state on Thursday, November 19 during a virtual ceremony.

Congratulations, Courtney!
