Case Takes First at Annual JA Business Challenge for 2nd Year in a Row

Eight students (four teams) from Case High School participated in the Junior Achievement (JA) Business Challenge on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Gateway SC Johnson iMET in Sturtevant, WI. Case High School teams took first place at the competition and will compete at the State Level of competition at ACUITY in Sheboygan, WI on May 3, 2019.

This exciting competition brings together teams of high school students from across Racine Counties. Each team fields two or three students and makes decisions in an online computer program called JA Titan, simulating the experience of running a global corporation. Each team is matched with a business consultant (a volunteer from a local business). Students play “CEO” for a day and make decisions on marketing, price, production, research and development, for the manufacturing and selling of a ‘Holo-Generator’ product. Teams go head-to-head as they strive to make informed, intelligent business decisions in running their own global, virtual business. Success depends on how well they manage their company's key decisions.  The teams are challenged to outperform the competition in profit, sales, and market share.  Business decisions made during the competition impact and are impacted by the other companies in the industry. Through this simulation, students are being equipped with skills they need to make headway in the world as their minds become alive, and wrestle with the same decisions business professionals. Each student on the champion team takes home a $500 scholarship and the top two teams advance to a statewide completion.

The JA Titan Business Challenge provided an experience a traditional classroom could not duplicate. The following students participated in the competition: Carlos Perez, Esequiel Padilla, Lauren Waiss, Jani Jackson, William Arnold, Elisa Douglas, Drew Esson, and Nicolas Martinez.

The following Case High School team won first place in Division 1 of the competition and a $500 scholarship: Carlos Perez, Esequiel Padilla.

The following Case High School team first place in Division 2 and earned a $25 Amazon Gift Card: Lauren Waiss, Jani Jackson.

Carlos Perez and Esequiel Padilla will compete at the State JA Business competition on May 3, 2019 for a chance to win $1,500 in scholarships!
