The P-COC (Parent-Child Oriented Classroom) program for three-year-olds is located at Red Apple Early Childhood, 914 St. Patrick St and Goodland Elementary School, 4800 Graceland Blvd. The P-COC program offers a unique opportunity for parents to work with their children in the classroom as parents (or an adult) attend class with their child once a week. The classroom, divided into several learning stations and centers, allows each parent and child to explore a variety of learning experiences at the child’s level of ability. Children advance at their own pace, while parents gain an understanding of their child’s development. The program is provided at no cost to residents with a home address within the RUSD attendance area. The District does not provide transportation for P-COC students.
Children who are three years old by or before Sept. 1 of the current school year are eligible to enroll.
Children attend school during either the morning or afternoon session. They attend Monday through Thursday and one Friday every month except for January and March. Parents are required to attend school with their child for one classroom session per week.
Families who live within a Title I attendance zone are eligible to attend the P-COC program. RUSD Title I elementary schools include: Fratt Elementary, Giese Elementary, Goodland Elementary, Janes Elementary, Jerstad-Agerholm Elementary, S.C. Johnson Elementary, Dr. Jones Elementary, Knapp Elementary, Mitchell Elementary, North Park Elementary, Racine Civil Leaders Academy, Roosevelt Elementary, Julian Thomas Elementary Wadewitz Elementary and West Ridge Elementary.
