Fifth-Graders Participate in Hispanic Professional Tour

Fifth-graders from Racine Unified Schools took a field trip to Gateway Technical College for the day to learn from some of Racine’s prominent Hispanic professionals. Students learned about the educational backgrounds of the professionals, skills needed in their job and how they were able to overcome obstacles on their way to success.  There were 23 community professionals that took time from their workdays to spend time with 180 fifth grade students from Fratt, Mitchell, Wadewitz, Dr. Jones, Julian Thomas, Janes, Johnson, and Roosevelt.

The goal of the fifth-grade Hispanic Professional Tour is to keep the students focused on academic success as they enter the middle school years.  This is the 10th year anniversary of the event.  Below is a picture of some of the participants and organizers.
