4-Year-Old Kindergarten

placeholder

Developed in 2006, 4-year-old kindergarten (4K) is a half-day, developmentally appropriate educational program of learning and activities for 4-year-old children. 4K is free for children who live within RUSD's boundaries.

Students attend classes for three hours Monday through Thursday and some Fridays. Both morning and afternoon sessions are offered.

There are many reasons to consider enrolling your child in 4K:

  • Studies indicate that students in early childhood programs learn the skills necessary for success in elementary school and beyond.
  • Social and emotional school readiness is a precursor to learning. 4K assists children with language skills, listening skills, muscle coordination, social skills and other prerequisites to learning.
  • Racine Unified has a strong history of providing excellent programming for young children.

Eligibility

If your child will be four on or before Sept. 1, you can register him/her for 4K.

Enrollment

Please register your child online here or at the Welcome Center, 3109 Mt. Pleasant St. Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You will need to submit your child's birth certificate or baptismal record, proof of address and an immunization record to enroll. Space for 4K is limited at certain sites, so parents are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
