In partnership with Racine County, RUSD celebrated the groundbreaking for a new multipurpose stadium at Pritchard Park on Wednesday, October 30.

Green Bay Packers President Mark Murphy joined Racine Unified Superintendent Dr. Eric Gallien and Racine County Executive Jonathan Delagrave for a ceremony at the SC Johnson Community Sports Complex.

The state-of-the-art, synthetic turf stadium will be used for football, soccer, lacrosse and a variety of community events. The project includes an innovative 2,000-person capacity top-loading bleacher system, raised plaza, ticket stands, concessions, press box, scoreboard and lighting.

It is made possible through an unprecedented $6 million partnership between Racine County and the Racine Unified School District, as well as a generous $250,000 grant from the NFL Foundation Grassroots Program.

The stadium, which is expected to open in Fall 2020, will be open to all area schools and sports teams, youth teams, community organizations and residents.

"This is a tremendous partnership between Racine County and Racine Unified that provides access for all of Racine’s young athletes to state-of-the-art fields and facilities that a couple of years ago, we wouldn’t have dreamed of. I’m filled with hope for our Racine community and I know that many Racine leaders are willing to step up and work together to make things better for future generations,” Dr. Gallien said.

“This facility will truly be a game-changer for our children, families and visitors. For too long, our youth have needed to travel outside Eastern Racine County to play on quality athletic fields. I am beyond excited to officially break ground on a first-class stadium that will serve Racine County for generations to come,” Delagrave said.
