Case High School Art teacher Christine Bohn and English/Sports teacher Dorothea Gruber of Mödling, Austria are sharing a unique educational experience together. They are both taking part in the American Field Service (AFS) Teacher Exchange program! Gruber is one of five teachers who have spent the last week at a school in southeastern Wisconsin. During the week of Thanksgiving, Bohn and the other current host teachers will be visiting schools in Austria.

Gruber says there is a much more friendly and empathetic atmosphere in our schools and students have more control over choosing classes they are interested in. Teachers in her educational system typically stay with the same group of students for up to four years. During this week, Gruber has been able to lend her expertise to some of Case's German classes by sharing educational and cultural activities with our students.

Bohn is looking forward to learning more about the cultural, educational and artistic similarities and differences between here and Austria. Gruber says her school's Art teachers are excited to be able to combine elements of her English classes while Bohn is visiting. We'll check back in with Mrs. Bohn when she returns.
