Change by Design: How Design Thinking Transforms Organizations and Inspires Innovation
I recently had the opportunity to participate in a very challenging and exciting experience for urban school leaders. While there, I was introduced to the concept of ‘Design Thinking’ which causes us all to look at problems from novel and innovative ways. Einstein is quoted as saying a variation of, "Problems cannot be solved by the level of awareness that created them." The process of Design Thinking is thoughtfully described with numerous examples in the new book, Change By Design, How Design Thinking Transforms Organizations and Inspired Innovation by Tim Brown with Barry Katz.
I urge you to read this book and use this process of Design Thinking with your teams to develop innovative ideas and turn them into realities that solve the problems you face in your organization or team. Our leadership cabinet at RUSD will be reading this together and using the Design Thinking model to develop new, creative solutions to challenging problems.
"One's mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions." - Oliver Wendell Holmes.
