ACT Prep Days Added to High School Calendar

10/30/2017

The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has approved a waiver allowing Racine Unified School District to adjust our 2017-2018 calendar to add five (5) ACT prep days.

High school juniors will have the opportunity to take an ACT practice test on Tuesday, Oct. 31 and then participate in four (4) ACT prep sessions throughout the next several months.

The school year calendar will adjust as follows.

  • Tuesday, Oct. 31: Freshmen, sophomores and seniors will not have school. Only juniors will report to school at the normal time for ACT Prep.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 7: 90-minute late start for freshmen, sophomores and seniors. Juniors will report to school at the regularly scheduled start time.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 12:  90-minute late start for freshmen, sophomores and seniors. Juniors will report to school at the regularly scheduled start time.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018: 90-minute late start for freshmen, sophomores and seniors. Juniors will report to school at the regularly scheduled start time.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018: 90-minute late start for freshmen, sophomores and seniors. Juniors will report to school at the regularly scheduled start time.

Transportation will be provided for all students regardless of start time.

This is a great opportunity for our junior students to build the skills necessary to excel on the ACT test in February. Our ACT scores are a significant factor in our On-Track and Postsecondary Readiness portion of the District’s and school’s state report card and will help our students graduate career and/or college ready!
